Collected by Marjory Kennedy-Fraser (b.1859 d.1930) and published in 1909 in Songs of the Hebrides
Sung as a lullaby in the Hebrides and as a waulking (wool dying) song in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.
University of Glascow lists this song as Reaping of the Bracken and lists the composer as George John Learmont Drysdale (b.1866 d.1909) and lyricist as J.L. Mackenzie. It also notes that his version is taken from an earlier Gaelic air.
